Angie Lassman is excited to return to Florida as part of The First Alert Weather Team on the NBC 6 midday and 4 p.m. broadcasts.

Before joining the First Alert Weather team, she was the weekday morning meteorologist at Fox 26 KNPN in Saint Joseph, Missouri. She spent two years forecasting everything from tornado outbreaks to snow storms in the central plains.

A native of Fraser, Michigan, Angie was recruited to play volleyball for Florida Institute of Technology and graduated from their Department of Ocean Engineering and Sciences in 2012 with a Bachelor of Science in Meteorology. She continued on at FIT to earn her Master of Science in Meteorology and to co-author a chapter in the book titled "Climate Change and Regional/Local Responses."

At FIT she was part of a scientific research team, a collegiate athlete, two-year team captain and a college instructor. Angie was also a Facilitator for the FIT Department of Space Sciences, educating Florida Division for Emergency Management officials and law enforcement on proper procedures and crisis management in case of a coronal mass ejection/space weather emergency.

Although Angie is a scientist she feels the rise of extreme weather has highlighted a need for more educated voices in the field of broadcast meteorology. She hopes to utilize the TV weather platform to have a positive impact in the community and to play an important role in providing viewers with the most accurate developing storm updates as well as critical safety information throughout her career.

Angie is proud to take the next step in her career in stunning South Florida. She enjoys the diverse culture, the beautiful beaches, and the gorgeous weather. In her spare time, she enjoys the beach, photography, traveling, and fashion but most of all Angie loves people. She is extremely calm under pressure, and has a positive outlook on everything. Angie hopes to inspire others to be fearless in life, to try new things, and to have fun doing it.
