A Fruit by Any Other Name...

Lemon Yellow

Nothing better than coloring outside of the lines.

What do you think of when you think of lemon? Not the crappy car kind, but the fruit. You probably think “yellow.” Not so much obvious as direct. It’s sort of like the local design studio, Lemon Yellow, producing a universally appealing product.

The Miami-based creative group specializing in graphic and interactive design keeps things clean but playful. Their work is innovative and communicates with audiences in unique ways while staying true to core ideas and values. They “develop aesthetic strategies based on a fundamental understanding of identity systems and their application” - whew - sort of like how lemons are yellow. Their work is simple, in the best way, stimulating and cool.

LY is probably best known for developing the identity of Oneburger, the delicious Coral Gables burger joint. Burgers are greasy, but this place looks clean, stark and quirky. You can buy a toy, gold grill (yes, teeth) for about a buck in quarters at a machine by the register.

Other clients include Design Miami, one of the amazing fairs that pop up around Art Basel. Newer clients include Vizcaya Museum and Gardens and MGE Architects, responsible for designing the ultra-modern Concourse J at Miami International Airport. Local artists also use Lemon Yellow’s hip perspective to jazz up their materials. LY designed for Legal Art and also recently for the TM Sisters solo exhibition at the Art and Culture Center in Hollywood. If that’s not enough to sell you on the quality of their work, some was featured in Design and Design “Book of the Year.” Whatever way you look at it, the work speaks for itself and it says something like, “berry nice.”
