1/1: Oh New Year, You're So Funny

Jim Norton, Farah Juste, and one happy day

ALL ABOUT JIM: Spend your first day of 2010 with laughs.  Laugh at Jim Norton's expense as he tells all from his personal journal entries detailed in his 2007 book, "Happy Endings." The best-selling author, radio personality, television host, AND comedian (what a mouthful) will be at the improv telling it like it is. Puts that incident with your sister and your diary into perspective, doesn't it? Fort Lauderdale Improv, 8 & 10:30 P.M.

JUSTE HAS BEEN SERVED: Farah Juste has not been given the gift of song, but rather song has been given the gift of Farah. Everyone who has heard her sing her tale of the glorious night where the Haitian slaves overthrew the French oppressors knows it, looks like you should too. She'll be at the Knight Concert Hall tonight, but singing a different tune (hopefully of a happier story). Call 305-949-6722 or visit the website for tickets. Knight Concert Hall, 7:30 P.M.

C'MON GET HAPPY: With the exception of payday and maybe the day of the first new episode of "Mad Men," is there any happier day than the first day of the new year? Oh, the possibilities. Double the happiness this year because January 1st is on a Friday. That means it's time to shake off that NYE hangover because it's happy hour time. At Sunset Lounge in The Mondrian, it's $10 bellinis, caipirinhas and other select cocktails. Plus tunes by DJs Irie and Mr. Sandman. 5 P.M.
