12/18: Let's Crack Some Nuts

Ballet Etudes Co. of South Florida

See international guest star Michelle Saramago do THAT at this weekend's production of "The Nutcracker." Sweet.

SWEET DREAMS: No holiday season is complete without The Nutcracker. This is the 35th year of production of the famous Christmas ballet for Ballet Etudes Company of South Florida (talk about seniority), with international guest stars and prima ballerinas from Brazil, Puerto Rico, and of course, the good ol' U.S. of A. They'll be here all weekend, so there's plenty of chances to watch one of Tchaikovsky's most famous works come to life. Honestly, who could refuse a land of sweets? Miramar Cultural Arts Center, 8 P.M.

ORIENTAL OASIS PARADISE: There's nothing better for washing away those workweek blues than an after hours soiree? Some would argue that it's therapeutic, which would explain why they keep cropping up all over the place (hey, no argument here). With over 250 different martini and saketinis at half price and a smorgasbord of light bites to choose from, where else would you go to drink your weekly worries away? Mandarin Oriental Miami, 6-8 P.M.

SET THE TONE: When it comes to Fridays, SET has a PhD in partying. Only the best booty shakin' tunes are spun, with House music by resident DJ Laurent Simeca and John Cash with the hottest hip-hop and open format music. So sit back, relax, and let the doctors do their thing; they know what's best for you. Screw the apple, bring on the drinks! SET Miami, 11 P.M.
