12/22: The Few, the Proud, the (Giving) Marines

The Marines, The Nutcracker, and The Vagabond

MERRY MARINES: Our U.S. Marines, in uniform, giving toys to needy children. Is there anything sweeter? Tug on those heartstrings of yours and bring in an unwrapped toy as La Marea resto at The Tides Hotel partners with Toys for Tots for, "the most wonderful time of the year." Heck, they'll throw in a free Tides Royale Martini for being so generous. There's nothing wrong with enjoying the delicious cuisine, either. Who said you can't enjoy the fruits of your labor? La Marea at The Tides Hotel.

CRACKIN' NUTS: You'd think we'd want to punch someone if we heard the word, "Nutcracker," one more time, but for Christmas' sake, let's mention it again (with a protective face mask, of course). Miami City Ballet's production of Hoffman's famous Christmas tale features beautiful scenery and costumes, and is brought to life by more than 100 of MCB's talented dancers. This might actually be enjoyable. The Adrienne Arsht Center, 7:30 P.M.

SHAKE YOUR GROOVE THANG: If you're all about the snaps instead of the claps, we'd recommend Stone Groove for the jazz enthusiast/poetic aficionado in you. It's hosted by Marcus Blake and The 3rd Party (his band), with DJ A-Train playing jazz, soul and blues. To top it off, $2 Buds and $5 Jack Daniels will keep you goin' 'til the sun comes up. That deserves some major snaps. The Vagabond Miami, 10 P.M.
