3/9: Have Some Hope

A night at the movies never felt so good

HAVE A LITTLE FAITH: With all that is going on in our lives and the craziness of our work weeks, it's always nice to have something that warms your heart. As many of you know, it's currently Miami International FIlm Festival, and one of the most touching movies of the festival premieres tonight at Olympia Theater At The Gusman Center. Moe Charifs shows his latest cinematic endeavor at Night Of Hope, during which his new film Never Winter pairs up with Honey Shine Mentoring Program to raise awareness against child abuse. The evening will include a live auction and a showing of a second film, A Step From Heaven, an inspirational documentary by Mexican director Vidal Canto. To end the evening in a truly chic way, the official after party will be at Wynwood hotspot Cafeina. 6 P.M.

FIESTA FIESTA! There are some days when you get home and you know that cooking just isn't in your future. Maybe a beer or two is your idea of a good way to end the day? Well, we found the perfect little spot to end your Tuesday. This and every Tuesday, check out El Scorpion, a new(ish) resto South of Fifth that gives you some of the best Mexican food in town and at a low low price: as in $1 mini tacos, 2-for-1 house margaritas, $9 ceviche speicals and $5 shots of tequila. Let us just say, muy bueno! 7:30 P.M.

HELPING HAITI: When the earhquake hit Haiti, we really came together as a community to help our neighbors. Sadly, there is still a lot more work to be done. As we imagine, you have written a check or cleaned out your closet, so we found a new way to help. Anacapri Restaurant hosts a special five-course educational wine dinner, and 100 percent of proceeds benefit the Haiti Relief Fund. Their extradonary chef will present several dishes to be paired with delicious Tuscan wines from Terrasole Winery. The tickets might be a little pricey at $150, but it's completely tax-deductible. 7 P.M.
