8/1: Culture Yourself

Polynesian fervor, country round up and Lego art

EXOTIC: Sometimes a fancy meal just isn't enough. When you’ve eaten enough Italian food and steak, this Polynesian paradise is here to feed and entertain. Tropical drinks and exotic fare are just mere snippets of what makes Mai Kai interesting. The Polynesian Islander Revue features gyrating dancers, lively instrumentals and vibrant costumes. Dinner is served before the show at 7 PM and 9:30 PM. $10.95 show charge per person.

LEGO MY LEGO: Expand your mind as legos tower over you in Nathan Sawaya’s Replay exhibit. This work of Lego art is back by popular demand, as the Art and Culture Center of Hollywood’s most popular show in its 30 years history. When you're done exploring colored block creations, visit the Adaptation exhibit and discover how artists take trash and make it art. $10 admission for adults. Explore the art until 4 P.M. before making your way out on the town.

ROUND UP: Known for our loud club tunes, electronic music and reggeaton, Miami is unjustly lacking some good country fun. Round Up Country is known for two-step, line dance, cha cha, east coast swing, west coast swing, and live entertainment. Sunday nights host beginner line dance classes for everyone from 7–8:30 PM. Sip on cocktails, bite down on wings, loaded potato skins, and mini corn dogs and work it all off during class.
