8/26: Cut Loose

Footloose at the Gusman, Judo at the Doral Resort and $7 cocktails at Cafeina

MAKIN BACON: He was the new kid in town with music on his side. Kevin Bacon was catapulted to teen heartthrob status in 1984 when he starred as Ren in Footloose. Re-live the music and moves at a screening tonight at the Gusman Center for the Performing Arts. Come early to enjoy happy hour cocktails at 6 p.m. and stick around to show off your best Footloose moves when DJ Mr. Pauer spins the retro classics after the screening. Tickets are $10.

JUDO CHOP: Judo is considered the grandfather of MMA and has given birth to sambo and jujitsu. Tonight is the Judo World Cup Miami and it's happening at the Doral Golf Resort & Spa. If you want to show off your judo moves, it's a $200 entry fee, but if you merely want to watch the action and not be part of it, tickets are $50. Click here for more information.

GO FOR SEVEN: Have you checked out this hot spot in the Wynwood Design District yet? Tonight would be a great night to head to Cafeina for happy hour. They're offering a "7 for $7" deal featuring half-price drinks and a selection of seven signature menu items for...you guessed it, 7 bucks.
