The cat’s “Came Along” scratched with so much fever MTV used the track to raise the temperature of Clubland, despite it being feisty tom’s first time outta the litter box. The Viacom giant did likewise with his subsequent “I’m All Yours”, even though its clip would up “terrifying” one of the gals from Teen Mom. In fact, the one-time music television network was so taken by the trackings, they gave it placement on the inexplicably popular Jersey Shore (but we won’t blame him for that). His name is Caleb Cornett, but the world knows him as Amtrac, and he’s the closest thing this Magic City has to an actual aural sorcerer (Kentucky roots not withstanding). This NYE, at the perennial place-to-be called Bardot, the sonic wonderworker will wow you into a whole New Year in ways you’ve never before fathomed.

If Amtrac’s sound was a color, what would it be (and why)? Orange, because I'm the most creative in the Fall.

How ‘bout if said sound was a thing? A Zippo lighter, because it's flame is so smooth.

What one verb best describes the creating of that sound? Experiment.

What one adjective best defines how it wows a crowd? Energetic.

Speaking of wows, are you still giddy over The AvalanchesSince I Left You? That album has been a staple in my rotation since it came out & probably always will be.

What is it about that slab which has you so ga-ga? The selection of samples was impeccable for when it came out and yet no one has really came close to topping it, in my opinion. It plays so well from start to finish -- a beautiful LP.

Any other new now sounds got you all aglow? Currently, I've had Thomas Azier, The Chromatics, Para One and Fort Romeau on heavy rotation. Thomas really shines as a vocalist and The Chromatics melodies are amazing. As for the other artists, I really admire them from a producer/engineer standpoint... top notch stuff.

How 'bout something new to you from way back when? Curtis Mayfield, Can't ever get enough of old funk cuts and Curtis really brings the noise. My friend turned me on to Stone Roses being they’re from Manchester and I'm quite the Joy Division fan... really good stuff. I listened to Pinback's "Blue Screen Life" a lot in high school, but recently went back and checked their other LPs... good vibes all around.

Will folks be hearing any of the above next Monday at Bardot? I'm sure there'll be a little bit of everything Monday, including some unreleased stuff

What’s so keen about appearing at Bardot anyway? Bardot is a great venue; the sound system is always kicking and the vibe is just right. I always have a good time playing there.

How do you see all that keen impacting the Eve of 2013? Gonna bring in the New Year with a bang -- good sounds, good atmosphere, good weather ;)

Amtrac appears at Bardot Monday December 31, 2012. For more information log on here.

Well Miami, it's official: Art Basel is here! From Downtown, the Design District and beyond, the largest festival in the Americas is in full swing.

Earlier this week, we gave you the most VVIP events. Now, here are events that you not only can attend but aren't ones to miss.
December 5th
Where: Pop-Up Piano, 2377 Collins Ave.
What: Sure, there are plenty of parties to be talked about this Art Basel. One of them is Pop-Up Piano Miami. On Dec. 5, you can be amongst the first to see eight beautifully adorned pianos crafted by renowned local artists at the New World Symphony's fund raising concert. Following the concert, these pianos will be strategically placed across Wynwood, Midtown Miami, Miami Beach, Downtown Miami, and the Design District for special performances during the week of Art Basel featuring some of our favorite bands at great locations. Sure, tickets for this event might be tad pricey, but with names like The One Group and Grey Goose attached, it will be worth every penny.
December 5th
Where: Miguel Paredes Gallery, 173 NW 23rd St.
What: Miguel Paredes, Miami-based pop artist and New York native, will be exhibiting a new series of art with fellow artist, long time friend and mentor, Ronnie Cutrone. The collaborative collection includes five paintings where Paredes has incorporated his style on Cutrone's animated pieces of famed characters like Woody the Woodpecker and Felix the CatNever. To really bring the bang to Basel, the 6,000 square-foot gallery in Miami's Wynwood Arts district will be open for public viewings every day starting Dec.5-9 from noon - 5 p.m. with special events nightly from 7 p.m. - 11 p.m. each evening.
December 6th
Where: The Hoxton, 1111 SW 1st Ave.
What: Have you hit up the Hoxton yet? Well, maybe it's time. Like always, they are featuring some of Miami's most sought after musical performances. The urban beach house will serve as an Art Basel oasis to enjoy Miami culture and talent, like Thursday with Miami legend, DJ Johnny the Boy.
December 6th
Where: LMNT Arts Gallery, 59 NW 36 St.
What: We love when art, fashion and a good cause all come together. Fashion Designer Lila Nikole along with Activist Aisha Thalia will host the inaugural "Fusion" Fashion & Art Show on Thursday, Dec. 6 at 8 p.m. at the LMNT Arts Gallery in Midtown Miami. Fusion is a funky, fashion forward mash-up fundraiser that will embody music, art to wear, photography, and mixed media art installations during Art Basel 2012. The event will introduce and support the duo's new charitable organization, Project Save Imagination, which aims to keep the arts a vital part of children's lives and education in order to inspire, empower and further enhance their imagination, creativity, and ability of self-expression. To top off the night, there will be Music Performances by Talib Kweli, Urban Mystic, Kulture Shock, DJ Rob Dinero, Bonnie Beats, DJ Epps, Mobious 8 and Romao & the sound of the drum.
December 7th
Where: Hotel Victor, 1144 Ocean Drive
What: How about a night with LE POMPON and POP'OVER all at the Hotel Victor? Really, there isn't anything more fabulous. From11 p.m. to 5 a.m., they will bring a Parisian nightlife concept to life with a speakeasy vibe. Le Pompon has been drawing in high-profile names like Scarlett Johansson and Kanye West since first opening its doors in October 2010. Designed by Charaf Tajer of internationally acclaimed creative collective, Pain O Chokolat, the venue's permanent locale books such music industry heavyweights as The Black Keys, The Rapture and Theophilius London. And that evening will be celebrity driven as always.
December 7th
Where: Cafeina, 297 Northwest 23rd St.
What: If you want to be in the heart of art, look no further than Wynwood or one of their most successful spots, Cafeina. Dec. 7, they will be the official after-party for the Miami edition of NYC based, Fountain Art Fair 2012 co-hosted by official sponsor, cream*hotel(r) with 'Resolute' resident DJ Connie, sounds by Low Pitch Orchestra and special aerial performance by Masci. But you have to stay up late: fun is from midnight to 5 a.m.

A group of Snow’s closest friends are honoring his memory by raising funds for an after-school program in his name, and the artists donating works include high-wattage names, such as Julian Schnabel, Ryan McGuinley, Jeff Koons, Richard Prince and Dan Colen, among many others.

This unique project honors Snow’s legacy by giving back to the most vulnerable youth in BGR's community, a neighborhood with significant meaning in Snow's life.

You know it as the land of sun and fun and wonder; gangs and gunfire and favela violence. Where a majestic modernist masterpiece city was built from scratch, and where spirits reside in every nook, cranny and crevice. It is Brazil. And as Granta 121 proves, it’s got a literature as compelling as it comes. Niteside got with editor John Freeman in advance of Monday’s Best Young Brazilian Novelists event at Books and Books.

Wanna give us the elevator pitch for Granta 121? So many of us love and enjoy Brazilian music, the beach culture, we admire its economic miracle, but the country's literature -- the dream life of this exciting nation -- remains almost invisible to us in English. This issue, filled with all the country's young talents, corrects that oversight and will make it hard to imagine we ever were in such darkness.

How vibrant a fiction scene are we talking about here? Let's put it this way: our launch party in Brazil (where the issue came out first in Portuguese) featured a DJ, a fight, and a proposed menage-a-trois between three of the selected writers. Clearly if you're tired of the safe and sound un-bohemian literary culture of today, Brazil is where to go.

Do the stories (and the authors) reflect all that? Absolutely. Its not just sexy, and musical, though, there's a violence being done to the language here, a ripping up of traditio (as in J.P. Cuenca's story about Rio di Janeiro on the eve of the Olympics), and a huge mixture of approaches to how to tell a story, from the poetic, as in Miguel del Castillo's tale of an uncle who died in one of the death-flights over Argentina, to the surrealistic, as in Ricardo Lisias' story about a chess player obsessed with Evo Morales, to the minimalist as in Carol Bensimon's sweet and tender love story, and beyond. They have their own Cormac McCarthy, in Daniel Galera, and their own Jonathan Safran Foer in this young writer, Michel Laub, who is precise and energetic all at once. Tatiana Salem Levy's fiction smolders with its clarity. It's a big mix. No longer are Brazil's writers obsessed with being authentically Brazilian, and so I think as a group they are now more so because they reflect the true range of a culture.

Whose bright idea was behind the collection? Roberto Feith and Marcelo Ferroni, our editors in Brazil. Granta has had a Brazilian sister Granta there for over five years now, and the Best of Young Brazilian issue is their 9th to date. (The tenth was just published) Usually, they translate about half of an issue into Portuguese from Granta in English and then commission the other half from local writers. For this issue however we've run their entire issue (with our edits). It will also be translated into Chinese by Granta China.

This isn’t the first time Granta’s heralded a specific country’s young novelists, is it? Well we began with the Best of Young Britain issue in 1983, which had a great generation -- Ian McEwan and Julian Barnes and Salman Rushdie and Martin Amis and Pat Barker an Graham Swift -- and we've had three issues since about Britain since. We also had an issue on Best Young
American Novelists
in 1997 (with Jonathan Franzen and Edwidge Danticat in it) followed by another in 2007. In 2010 we had the Best of Young Spanish Language Novelists, which featured writers from over eight Spanish speaking countries. So you could call this Best of a series, this is just the first time it's been on a non-English speaking country, rather than a language.

Is there another such collection already in the works? We're actually working on the Best of Young British Novelists 4, which will be released in 2013. Considering how well these things have held up as crystal balls of talent -- the 2nd Best of Young British Novelists issue flagged up Alan Hollinghurst, Jeanette Winterson and AL Kennedy, the 3rd Zadie Smith and David Mitchell -- we've got our work cut-out for us.

What kind of response has the series been receiving around the world? Less fights and three-ways, but perhaps that's not such a bad thing. These are marvelous, funny, humane writers, and it's exciting to watch them get picked up and already a few translation deals have happened for them which is what we hoped would happen.

Why you decide to launch the North American tour in Miami anyway? Where else can glamour and intelligence and music all cohabitate so well?

Granta 121: The Best of Young Brazilian Novelists with Cristhiano Aguiar & Vinicius Jatobá Monday November 26, 8pm at Books and Books Coral Gables. For more information log on here.

It’s a band. It’s a label. It’s a tag team. Mostly though it’s two best friends named Ralph Falcon and Oscar G. A pair of uber talented Miami natives who joined forces in high school and went on to elevate the whole wild world of dance music. It is -- and they are -- Murk. And their world-renowned house remains standing solid 20 years on. Join equally enduring Nervous Records at The Vagabond this Saturday and wish the Magic City racket-makers a very Happy Murk Day.

What’s the last blast of Murk to rack? "Amame" by Intruder featuring Jei.

Don’t you have something else on tap too? Indeed. "Die 4 U" is our new tune which features our friend and acclaimed vocalist Victoria Wilson James. It’s out on Murk next week!

Won’t this release also mark another milestone for Murk the label? Yes, it is the launch of Murk Records on the digital front. Up to now, our releases have been vinyl only. We are excited about this because we have a bunch of new projects in the works that we can't wait to put out.

Does that also mean any- and everything Murk’s ever made or released will now be available all in one spot? We are planning to release the entire Murk catalog along with new remixes.

Will fans get a sample of all that and then some this Saturday night? Hell to the yes!

Will we also get a listen to the brand new “Die 4 U”? Most likely.

Why’d you decide to mark this Murky double birthday at Vagabond anyway? We like to keep Murk Day a cozy event where people will feel comfortable and not get harassed at the door by bottle police... we have a good relationship with the ownership, and it feels right.

Murk mixes it up Saturday November 24th at The Vagabond. For more information log on here.

Kim and Kourtney Kardashian were presented with keys to North Miami on Monday.

The keys were given to them as an official welcome as they film their reality show "Kim and Kourtney Take Miami" in South Florida. They are renting a home in North Miami while they film the series.

"We filmed two seasons of our show out here before, a couple years ago. And when Kourtney and I branchd off and went to go film in New York, we love New York, but there was something that we really missed about Miami. So, we came back, and we're so excited to be here. Everyone in North Miami and all of Miami has been so welcoming to us and so great to us and has made it so easy for us to film," Kim Kardashian said. "I know its not an easy thing when you hear a reality show is coming to film, but I hope that we have proven how respectful our crew and our production is, and we are, and we are just so excited that everyone has welcomed us with open arms."

The city's mayor, Andre D. Pierre, honored them at the council chambers of North Miami City Hall. Khloe Kardashian had to fly back to Los Angeles for "X Factor," Kourtney Kardashian said.

"We just wanted to say its such an honor. We love North Miami. We feel so welcome here," Kourtney Kardashian said.

Pierre said the city was honored that they were there.

"What can we say about the Kardashians that none of you have not already known? I mean really, when you have one of the most Googled name in the United States of America. I believe it's extremely difficult, if not impossible, to keep anything private, especially when your work is in the area of reality television," Pierre said.

He added that although the show was being filmed in the broader Miami area, officials were aware of the economic impact of filming on the community. He added that the city was known as the film and recording capital of the South.

"Today we are extremely happy to take a nod to this industry by honoring three of the most hard working people in the business Khloe, Kim and Kourtney," he said.

Lunch was to be served after the ceremony.

The last time Niteside caught up with Yuri Tuma, the mirroring imagist was about to unveil his mind-blowing Metropolis, another in a series of annual wonders. Come Art Week, the artstar will be returning with SYM CITY, the inaugural exhibit in Butter Gallery’s wicked new digs. To rev up for the occasion, Tuma has arranged a completely immersive sneak peek of his new work for this Second Sunday at HaVen. Expect very vivid elation.

What’s the big idea behind SYM CITY? To explain my work I first have to explain what confusion means to me. I see confusion as the amount of time our mind spends on being undecided between infinite choices in an uncertain moment! I see my artistic journey as “Confusion Study”. Most of my work is derived from that inspiration and desire to study the transitory moment between uncertainty and knowledge. SYM CITY is a symmetrical play with black/red and white photography. The whole concept was to achieve a three dimensional feel to a photo-generated image on a flat surface by creating geometrical patterns.

How does it differ from Metropolis? Metropolis was a texture study, and SYM CITY is a depth and dimension study. Metropolis was filled with colors, SYM CITY is mainly black and white. The one thing they do share in common, as most of my work, is a symmetrical approach.

Word is it’s slated to be the inaugural exhibit at Butter Gallery’s expansive digs, that so? That is true! Butter Gallery will reopen on December 4th with SYM CITY.. The new location is amazing! And it's in the wilds just West of Wynwood.

So what’s the HaVen sneak peek all about? HaVen, besides being a super cool spot in South Beach, is equipped with amazing technology. They are able to transform their space by digitally applying art/images on its walls as if they were wallpaper. It's tital immersion, and it seemed like a perfect marriage for my new work, which is very much pattern oriented.

Yuri Tuma sneak peeks SYM CITY this Second Sunday at HaVen’s forartists...BYARTISTS. For more information log on here.

Its core is a mad mix of French, Japanese and British scenemakers, but its whole consists of some of the raddest racket-makers in the whole wild world. As a label its racked such modern classics as Bloc Party and Boys Noize, Klaxons and La Roux; as a concept its ultra sound is backed by very vivid vision. It is Kitsune, and this Friday night the brand will be grand-standing into Grand Central with both Oliver and The Twelves. To mark the occasion Niteside asked The Twelves to tell us what counts.

Dirty Dozen or baker’s dozen? Dirty Dozen. I don't even know what a baker's dozen is?

A dozen roses or a two six packs? Easy! Two six packs! Roses aren't going to do you any favors on a hot day in Rio!

Twelve Apostles or twelve Olympians? Apostles I think. I'd much prefer to flex my brain muscle than my actual muscles.

Twelve steps or twelve tones? It depends what is at the end of the twelve steps and what the twelve tones are. Twelve steps would probably be the wiser choice in case you end up with twelve flat or sharp tones!

The twelve tribes of Israel or the twelve labors of Hercules? ... Labors, let's go with labors.

12 Monkeys or Apollo 12? Oooh! Tough. 12 Monkeys

Twelfth Night or "The Twelfth of Never"? Ummm… Twelfth Night?

How do you two feel about Friday the 13th? Friday the 13th is no big thing. We eat Friday the 13th for breakfast! Hahahah!

If you thought Halloween falling on Wednesday was going to leave all the fun to the kids, you were wrong. From Blackbird Ordinary to all over the beach, your favorite places are celebrating Hallow's Eve in a big way.

So to ensure you spend your time getting your costume ready and not picking out where to go, here are six soirees we think are not to miss.

Kim Kardashian’s LIV Halloween Bash, Miami Beach
We warn you: this evening at LIV might cost you, but it’s going to be worth it. The reality starlet herself is having a Halloween/Birthday bash all to go down at the Fontainebleau Miami Beach. Tickets are $60 ladies and $90 guys, but a cameo from Kanye West is almost guaranteed.

Boo Bash at RA Sushi, South Miami
Not looking to hit the town hard this evening? No worries because you can celebrate with RA Sushi's Boo Bash. Guests are encouraged to dress up for the costume contest to have the opportunity to take a bite out of some serious treats, including a $100 RA gift certificate. To keep the party going all night long, a special guest D.J. will spin a haunting mix of beats, while guests will enjoy a variety of "Boo Bites" and drinks.

Blackbird Ordinary, Miami

We might be a city known for it’s mega clubs, but there are a couple of bars that too are putting our city on the map. Blackbird Ordinary, formerly Transit Lounge, is one of those places. Known for it’s happy hour and signature drinks that in fact will make you happy, tonight they are adding something a little extra to the evening. SuenaloMusic.com is bringing along Haitian Hillbilly, an animal costume contest and best of all, no cover, all in the name of Halloween.

Lincoln Road, Miami Beach
For those of you who want to keep it classic. Lincoln Road on Miami Beach is much like Mardi Gras in New Orleans: a little crazy, but fun is inevitable. All the bars will be hopping, people will be out in droves and we don’t suggest you go without costume.

Haunted Havana at Hyde Lounge, Miami Beach
Miami Beach celebrated a little early this weekend with fabulous parties like Soho House’s Carnival and Supermarket Creative’s Beam Me Up Party. There is a chance you might be thinking the fun is over. That is where you are wrong. South Beach’s SLS hotspot, Hyde, is celebrating Hallow’s Eve with Hyde Out in Haunted Havana fiesta. Be sure to bring your 1920’s best for a Bacardi sponsored bar and sound by Lazerdisk Party Sex and The ChainSmokers.

South Beach Tiki Bar, Miami Beach
South Beach Tiki Bar is most definitely the best deal and the most unique party in town. For those not wanting to break the bank, Happy hour begins at 5 p.m. and doesn’t end till midnight. Not to mention the fact that their party will somehow include everything from lots of Island jams, lots of NBA action and a meet and greet with South Beach Tow’s Christie Ashenoff.

<![CDATA[Giant Gator Head to Float on Biscayne Bay During Art Basel]]> Tue, 30 Oct 2012 16:26:08 -0500 http://media.nbcmiami.com/images/213*120/gator+head.jpg

Don't be surprised if you see an enormous gator head floating around Biscayne Bay during Art Basel.

When it's assembled, the gator, made of steel and recyclable materials, will be 230 feet long. Its head_ the size of a three-story building _ will be built around the boom of a crane so that the mouth can open and close.

The body will consist of 102 tiles, each being 4 feet wide and 8 feet long, made of highly buoyant material.

Lloyd Goradesky, a Hollywood-based artist and photographer, came up with the idea for "Floating Tile Art 'Gator in the Bay,'" three years ago.

"The whole idea of the piece is to bring awareness to the Everglades and awareness to our surroundings," Goradesky said.

The tiles will be a photo-mosaic, and from a distance it will look like the body of alligator. Up close, it will be a collage of 6,528 Everglades images that Goradesky has taken over the last 25 years.

"The body is not real. It's more of an illusion," he said.

The tiles will be separated and sold off as art packages for $5,000 each. They will include a licensed aerial photo, a diagram of the project with a depiction of where the tile was on the body, an explanation of the project, a certificate of authenticity and the tile with all its rigging.

On Nov. 26, once the "skin" is assembled and the gator head is sliced into three length-wise pieces for easier transport, they will be driven over Alligator Alley to Fort Lauderdale, where they will be assembled on the barge. Ultimately, they will float around Biscayne Bay during Art Basel Miami Beach. The international art fair runs from Dec. 6 to 9.

The head and body will be attached during a ceremony in May.

"The whole idea of the piece is for it to be free for public viewing," he said.

You’re a whiz with tricks. You doubly dig treats. And that kickass costume you’ve created will out-wow even the most wowsome in town. And though the number of invitations you’ve received for this Halloween is downright obscene, you’re determined to see and be seen, no matter what. To get you goin’ straight to where the maddest action is, Niteside has decided to provide a shortlist of the Top 3 Halloween parties of the year. Each will be all that and then some, and all will be as exciting as each. Party on party people!

Beam Me Up!

To say Supermarket Creative’s 7th Annual Halloween Bash promises to be more of a must than ever is kinda like saying All Hallow’s Eve is a night made for crazies. In other words: it’s a given. Add the fact that the superlative squad will be teaming with such esteemed outfits as Veni Vidi Vici, Sweat Records and Spinello Projects; doing the dizzy with DJs Ess & Emm, Mister Drake, Lolo, The Kid, Bonnie Beats and Smeejay; getting vividly visual with TM SISTERS, Stian Roenning and Jessy Nite; flash fixing with Contesta Rock Hair and Stash Wardrobe; and fueling with Dos Equis; and, well, that unmitigated given is guaranteed to be as great as all get out. The party tagline teasingly reads: “This year the reigning fashion and art costume party will take you back to the future of the swinging Space Age era of 1965; when Paco Rabanne and Pierre Cardin ruled the galactic runway.” Word on the street is simply: We. Can’t. Wait.

Saturday October 27 at Studio 743. For more information log on here.

What do you get when you mix one spooky holiday with one uber cool neighborhood? HALLOWYNWOOD, that’s what. Put into play by Ragatronic gal Niki Em, backed by the great good folks at Product/81, and featuring a Killer Koncert from both Krisp and Beatmachines, a Magical Marketplace created by 305 Green, and a Haunted Gallery devised by Miami’s Independent Thinkers, not to mention enough tricks and treats to sate all the savage beasts, this throwdown will prove that the up-and-coming is already here. Product/81’s own Joel Fernandez is keen on seeing “local artists, musicians and small businesses come together for a family friendly event that will really reflect everything the neighborhood is about.” Ringleader Niki Em, in contrast, says “Get your spook on!”

Saturday October 27 at Armory Studios. For more information log on here.

Jack Honey’s Halloween Blowout

Pagan holiday? Check. Full moon? Check. Fueled by sweet elixir in a South Beach landmark on one of the world’s wildest strips? Check, check and check again. Such are the core components of Jack Honey’s Halloween Blowout, which begins poolside at the exquisitely- appointed Delano Beach Club and ends inside at the inn’s prestigiously with-it FDR. Putting their sublime spin on the swingin’ occasion will be Treasure Fingers and DJ Ruen, and the Honey Jack cocktails will be flowing like a fountain straight outta Ponce de Leon. Nightlife legend and consummate host Chris Paciello says “Full Moon is truly going to be over the top this month, [and the] Delano is definitely the place to be this Halloween weekend.” Considering that’s that cat who’s been in on more over-the-top action than just about anyone in town, we’re gonna concur. But don’t simply take his word (or ours) -- hit the hotspot and dig for yourself. You’ll thank all the lucky stars in the morning.

Monday October 29 at The Delano. For more information log on here.

<![CDATA[1st Look Loves: Gary Clark Jr. "Blak and Blu"]]> Fri, 26 Oct 2012 15:58:56 -0500 http://media.nbcmiami.com/images/212*120/photo-credit-frank-maddocks-extralarge_1339614241131.jpg

The album is finally here, "Blak and Blu." It couldn't come soon enough. Following the release of Gary Clark Jr.'s first major-label release "The Bright Lights" EP, the full-length debut album has dropped and we are loving it.

It was only last year that we were introduced to the Austin-based musician by his hometown crew and have played "Bright Lights" on repeat since, waiting patiently for the full album to arrive. It's soul, blues and rock at its finest and it's the work of a musician, who only at 28 years old, seems like he's been in the business forever.

The debut single got critical acclaim very early on from legends like Paul McCartney and Mick Jagger. Alicia Keys even said it herself, "Hurry up and Google [him], before you're late." The man has proven that he's got it, on stage and in the studio.

From the times we've encountered Gary, he's generally a pretty quiet guy, but when he gets on stage, there's no questioning that he's heard. And, we like what we hear.

Some say he's like Hendrix. Others say Stevie Ray Vaughan. But If you've heard his insane solo guitar riffs, you know it's Gary Clark Jr.

Check out the debut single below, get that album, and rock!

<![CDATA[1st Look Loves: Halloween at the McKittrick]]> Fri, 26 Oct 2012 14:03:09 -0500 http://media.nbcmiami.com/images/211*120/Robin_Roemer_-_Nick_and_Sophie.jpg

For the Halloween season, why not go to an experience that will awaken the darkness, the voyeur, and the curious itch that has been waiting to be scratched. Sleep No More can provide just that, where your venturous spirit is encouraged at the McKittrick Hotel.

Built in 1939, the McKittrick was intended to be the most decadent hotel of its era, but six weeks before opening, WWII broke out and the building was condemned and remained locked until now. As you enter, you are given a mask and told to remain silent throughout the production.

The audience will then be put through what seems to be a perilous environment, which quickly turns into an adventure of twists and turns. It is an interactive show where the experience is not spoon fed, but rather earned.

Exquisite sets, complex narratives, and spectacles of the players will keep the guests on their feet, and on the move. Punch Drunk and Emersive took over five floors of three connecting warehouses to build this labyrinth complete with psychiatric wards, ballrooms, cemeteries, and a hospital wing to name a few.

All set to a soundtrack that is reminiscent of Angelo Badalamenti. Loosely based on Shakespeare's Macbeth, scenes play out in over 100 unique rooms. The idea is to follow a character of your desire, but you can switch at anytime or follow no one and browse the gorgeous deco era sets. What you see next will be an individual experience where the more you seek, the greater the discovery.

The McKittrick will also be hosting The Carnival des Corbeaux, which kicks off tonight, and continues through Halloween. Each night having a unique costume theme to which guests will be asked to strictly adhere. The parties will take place directly after the Sleep No More performances.

The schedule for Carnival des Corbeaux is as follows:
Friday, October 26: “Le Charmeur de Serpent”
Let the animal kingdom inspire your dress for the evening. Feathered, furred, or scaled attire required.
Saturday, October 27: “La Contorsionniste”
Throw modesty to the wind and flaunt your flesh. Come in your most glamorous and provocative attire.
Sunday, October 28: “La Femme a Barbe”
Unleash your alter ego of the opposite sex. For this night, dress in your gender-bending finery.
Monday, October 29: “La Clairvoyante”
Conjure the spirits of the dark side. Dress as sorcerers, witches, fortune-tellers and other bohemian creature of the night.
Tuesday, October 30: “Les Sœurs Siamoises”
On this night, bring along your identical twin. And make sure you stay side-by-side. Triplets, quadruplets, quintuplets and beyond are most welcome.
Wednesday, October 31: “Le Sorcier”
On All Hallows Eve, the choice is yours. Come dressed as the carnival denizen of your choice.

“Sleep No More” continues at the McKittrick Hotel, 530 West 27th Street, Chelsea; 866-811-4111

<![CDATA[NiteTalk: Revolution Live Turns 8 with a Funked Up Great]]> Thu, 25 Oct 2012 11:03:43 -0500 http://media.nbcmiami.com/images/213*120/RevolutionHolyShipPreR+Rony+Alwin.jpg

The last time Niteside got with Jeff John, the club kingpin came clean about The Green Room addition to Revolution Live. Now he’s back celebrating another big birthday -- not his, mind you, but his venue’s. Yep, this Thursday Lauderdale’s most trusted nightclub is marking its eighth great year in existence, and to celebrate they’re staging P Funk legend George Clinton. If you dig music, and you dig the afterdark, you will be front at center for this live milestone.

How does it feel to be marking another kickass year? It feels great, we are still here doing our thing!!! This year has been very strong in terms of number of and quality of shows, and I’m so very happy.

What compelled you to bring in George Clinton to celebrate the occasion? We had the opportunity to book George months ago and knew this was right around the time of our anniversary, so we figured what a great fit. You can't find a better party band with George Clinton and P Funk.

Did you have to go to any great lengths in order to secure such a legend? No, not really, they are on tour and the date happened to work out.

Speaking of legends, care to name a favorite (or three) from the past year of appearances? That’s tough. I’d say The Weeknd (which was a huge show -- his first in Florida -- and sold out in 3 1/2 hours); Arctic Monkeys (awesome band; say no more); Two Door Cinema Club (another huge show’ they also played a DJ set after the show in Green Room which was great!!); and Major Lazer.

Anybody coming up that you’re particularly keen on seeing take Revolution’s fabled stage? Another tough one. I'd say Boyz Noise, in November (live set, sick production!!); SOJA in December; and The Holy Ship pre-party with A-Trak in January.

Last but not least: If you had but a single sentence to sum up the secret to Revolution’s continued success, what would it be? A combination of great relationships, support of local community and the fact that we run a good clean venue. Patrons know that they can come to Revolution Live and get a quality product (intimate show, great sound, and fun experience) every time!!!

Revolution 8th Anniversary Party w/George Clinton takes place Thursday October 25. For more information log on here.
