Tuesday will be proclaimed Michael Bay Day in Miami-Dade County.

Commissioner Sally Heyman sponsored a special proclamation for the producer/director of movies such as Bad Boys II, Pearl Harbor and Armageddon. It will be presented during the commission meeting at 9:30 a.m..

The Miami-Dade Film and Entertainment Advisory Board and the Miami-Dade Office of Film and Entertainment requested the proclamation to "recognize Mr. Bay's contributions and the positive economic impact his films have had on Miami-Dade County," an email statement from the county said.

Bay is filming his latest movie "Pain and Gain" in the county and it was expected to have inject $25 million in to the local economy from March to May, the statement said. Bay owns a home in Miami Beach.

“The film and entertainment industry brings millions of dollars into our economy each year, creates thousands of jobs, and supports local businesses. Public recognition is a great way to show our appreciation and support for Michael Bay who has contributed so much to the growth and success of the film industry here in Miami-Dade County,” the email quoted Heyman as saying.
