Mid-Week Refinement

A new Tuesday night party mixes art with partying, which is good because you like art and you know how to party

What do you get when you take art off the canvas and splatter it in the middle of the week?

A weekly art series that brings a new take on art to Tuesday nights.

It’s true gallery walks tend to pop up on weekends, but thanks to Club 50 and unconventional art, you can get cultured up smack in the middle of the week with Art on 50.

Performance-based pieces, sculptures, videos and more make up the 12-week series at the Viceroy’s hotspot. All artists are Miami-based and bring something more than just brush strokes to the canvas.

Tonight’s featured artist, David Rohn, paints a performance piece for the high-in-the-sky Club 50 set. Expect a colorful cast of characters courtesy of Rohn, who was voted Best Male Performance Artist by the Sun Post in 2008.

“We wanted to take an unconventional approach to ‘presenting’ art … people tend to forget that art extends beyond paintings and two-dimensional works,” explains Annhy Shim, one of the curators who helped select artists for the series.

We think people tend to forget art isn’t just limited to Saturdays and Sundays, art festivals and museum outings, too. And like any good weekend gallery walk, Club 50 will have drinks a plenty courtesy of Ruinart Champagne—because art looks even better after a glass or two. See you there tonight at 7 p.m.
