Lately, we feel like hotspots are playing a game of musical chairs. Segafredo disappeared from South of Fifth and magically reappeared the next day on Espanola Way. Pawn Shop just magically disappeared. Circa 28 became Electric Pickle. And now Opium is saying sayonara South Beach, hello Hollywood.
With a soft opening celebration dubbed “the biggest party to hit Fort Lauderdale” and the booty herself, Kim Kardashian, set to host the grand opening weekend April 11, the Asian-inspired spot is creating quite a big to-do to celebrate its new northern digs—and this time around it won’t have to worry about those pesky SoFi residents asking them to keep it down.
Housed in the Seminole Hard Rock, Opium can be as big, bad and loud as it wants to be. And that’s just what it has in mind for the soft opening soiree, complete with fire-breathers and Cirque du Soleil-style acrobatics amidst its East-meets-French aristocracy décor. (Think Nobu meets Louis, only bigger, much, much bigger). But don’t take our word for it, the party kicks off tonight at 10 p.m. Just remember, a cab back to the Beach is gonna cost ‘ya. After all, you’re not in Kansas, er South Beach, anymore.
