7/27: Full Heavy Metal Jackets — with Mojitos

Rock out with your art doc out, or just have a mojito

STANDARD PROCEDURE: The Standard Hotel's film series continues tonight with "Beautiful Losers," a documentary about a group of artists in the early '90s - most notably Spike Jonze, who's best known for directing indie faves "Being John Malkovich" and "Adaptation" and dating Sophia Coppola - who took the world by creative storm. 8 P.M.

BLAME CANADA: When one thinks of Canada, heavy metal usually doesn't come to mind. Unlocked doors and Pamela Anderson, maybe. But not long hair and leather. Think of "Anvil! The Story of Anvil," though, as kind of a Canadian "This Is Spinal Tap." Except less farcical and more endearing. What else would you expect from our friendly neighbors to the north? Tonight at Cinema Paradiso. 6 P.M.

LEVEL WITH US: It's Monday, might we suggest you get high? As in the 25th floor of the Conrad Hotel to Elevate Your Week. Every night is a different cocktail special, and tonight it's Mojito Mondays, which means $6 mojitos, caipirinhas and caprioskas, all made to order with your choice of fresh fruit. 5-8 P.M.
