"Hairspray" singer and actress Nikki Blonsky would dig the new plus-size vintage fashion at Angel's Vintage Boutique.
Angel’s Vintage Boutique is celebrating a big addition.
The 6-month-old shop in the Design District has added a plus-size collection of vintage women’s clothing.
To celebrate the new line, the owner Trish Ramgoolam is hosting a fashion show called Voluptuous Vintage featuring plus-sized models wearing the new collection this Saturday.
Vintage Designer Emiene Wright, who is helping host the show, said models will be strutting their stuff in clothing from all eras from the 40s through the 80s.
“It’s a great event for the “fat-”shionista,” said Wright, who is plus-sized herself. “There aren’t many options for women like me, especially when it comes to vintage so we are hoping to get the word out there through this event.”
Wright said most of the collection is made up of custom-made frocks.
“Women back then weren’t as big as they are today so a lot of this clothing is one-of-a-kind,” said Wright.
While the show kicks off at 2 p.m., the boutique will be having an all day event from noon until 6 p.m.
Refreshments, on-site alterations and lots of clothing ranging from sizes zero to 22 will be on sale.
