Forget Snacks, Get a Swimsuit

The Standard makes shopping for swimwear easy with a new vending machine

Back in the day, vending machines were for snacks and sodas.

Today, well, they seem to be for everything, including iPods and the latest: swimsuits.

At The Standard hotel in Miami Beach, this one-of-a-kind vending machine will be added soon.

Guests will be able to score  exclusive Quiksilver boardshorts and bikinis by the hotels's swanky pool.

And no it doesn’t take cash or coins.

This is one high-tech bathing suit machine.

It comes equipped with touch-screen technology, credit card processing, advanced product previewing and live video streaming.

Inside of it, you’ll find four types of retro looking boardshorts for sale. Each swim trunk is inspired by the different Standard hotels in Downtown LA, Hollywood, New York and of course, Miami.

The Miami boardshort is a modernized version of the OG Scallop, one of the original boardshort designs from Quiksilver. White with orange accents, the swim trunks are perfect for any fella with a sun kissed glow.

Other shorts include the LA Hokus Polkas, Hollywood Stars and the NYC version of the OG Scallop.

All boardshorts retail for $75 and come with a handpicked list of addresses of must see spots in each city.

When it comes to bikini options, the ladies are out of luck.

There’s only a black itsy bitsy bikini with a three-button detail on the briefs. The bikini retails for $84.

So why the vending machine when you can easily go to a store?

“The vending machines give guests the opportunity to continue the 24/7 lifestyle we offer," said Claire Darrow, the Creative Director of Andre Balazs Properties, "even to outfit them for the pool or beach."
