The “F” Words

Fun, flirty, fierce and fabulous: just a few words to describe Claudiae's fall line

When it comes to fashion, you'll need more than one  f-word to describe local designer Claudia Estrada's new fall collection.

And we're not talking the vulgar kind.

Instead, try fun, flirty, fierce and fabulous.

Launched last week, Claudiae features flowy print jumpsuits, sumptuous frocks, statement leggings and lots of stylish tops.

“It suits the Miami woman pretty well in the sense of the fabrics and colors,” said the 31-year-old designer, who lives in Miami Beach and finds much of her inspiration from travels, nature and costume books.

Her edgy, but classic looking pieces retail from $88 to $345 and come in an assortment of tones.

Find plums, pinks, fuchsia and lots of Estrada’s favorite hues: metallic and turquoise.

“I love turquoise because it reminds me of the sea and the color brightens up any face...metallics are almost the same idea and it also goes with everything,” said the former owner of TOFF boutique in Miami Beach.

These days, despite the store closing, Estrada, who hails from Ecuador, said she is finally doing what she wants to do for the rest of her life: creating clothing.

Her 2 year-old brand has been featured in magazines like Lucky and People and is geared for women from their 20s to 40s.

“I think the kind of woman that would love my line could be someone who thinks texture and tone of colors are important in their wardrobe,” said the 31-year-old.

Future plans for Estrada include making a kids line and expanding Claudiae to Europe and South America.

For now you can find her line at Impulse Boutique on 6578 Bird Road, or buy it online.
