The Beauty Beat: 4/17-4/23

Celebrate Mother Earth this Earth Day with Lush products, an Aveda massage and some good, old-fashioned outdoor time with a Deco Bike ride and yoga on the

BEAUTY: Lush is one of those brands that respects its mother—mother nature, anyway. This Earth Day, lush it up with products from the Earth-loving brand. Check into your local Lush for the Charity Pot Hand & Body Lotion ($20.95). Not only is it super hydrating and made with fair trade ingredients, 100 percent of proceeds benefit the grass roots organizations Lush looks out for. When you drop into the shop to stock up, be sure to bring your used black pots along with you. Return five black Lush pots and get a free Fresh Face Mask this April 22. Ready to check out? Skip the plastic bag. Instead, opt for Lush’s Knot Wrap ($6.95). It can be used to carry all your goodies, and it’s made from recycled plastic bottles. Another tip, get super green and start your own compost bin to cut back on waste. Lush started one at the Vancouver head office and composted more than 100 tons of waste last year. It really is easy being green. GET IT: LUSH Aventura Mall, 19575 Biscayne Blvd., Aventura; 305.935.7022.

SPA: What if the health of the planet were up to you getting a spa treatment? OK, so maybe it’s not that extreme, but you can help make the world a better place by booking the Earth Month Massage at The Palms Hotel & Spa this month. When you schedule your massage, the Palms Spa will buy you a limited-edition soy wax Aveda Light the Way Earth Month Candle, made with 100 percent certified organic ingredients with stress-relieving benefits. One hundred percent of proceeds from the candle go to Global Greengrants Fund, a clean water project. So, yes, technically, your spa-ing is an Earth-saving experience. Just remember that as you’re reveling in the detoxifying and rejuvenating treatment with 30 minutes of Hydrotherapy Skin Remedy Body Masque and 50-minutes of Fusion Stone Massage.

Feeling like you could do a little more for the planet? Join The Palms Aveda Spa on April 22 for Trash Bash. The Shoreline social beach clean-up kicks off with registration at 3:30, then leads to sanitizing the sand between 29th and 32nd Streets. Afterward, head back to the hotel’s pool for libations. Doing good and drinks, now that’s as worthy a cause as getting a massage for Mother Earth. GET IT: Earth Month Massage, 80 minutes for $210. 3025 Collins Ave., Miami Beach; 305.908.5460.

GYM: Getting your sweat on for the globe is exactly what you should do this Earth Day. And instead of getting to the gym in your gas-guzzling car, check out Deco Bikes. Fueled by your foot power, these rental bikes are stationed all over town to get you where you need to go in the most eco-friendly manner—while you enjoy the great outdoors, nonetheless. Simply get a beach pass or rent a bike hourly, hope on, take a ride and then return the bike to a Deco Bike station when you’re done. Spin over to Exhale on Monday, April 18 for its Earth Week Yoga Class on the lawn. Overlook Biscayne Bay as you take in a Vinyasa Flow session. The cost is a $10 donation, which benefits Surfrider Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting the oceans. After class you can pedal back, making this one effort Mother Nature won’t soon forget. GET IT: April 18 at 6:15. Exhale at Epic, 270 Biscayne Boulevard Way, Miami; 305.423.3900.
