The Beauty Beat: 8/7-8/13

This week, get beautiful from root to chi.

Steal looks from Swim Week with the InStyler, enjoy Hawaiian Bliss at Tempo Miami and indulge in free yoga at Bayfront Park.

BEAUTY: When the models at the Cia.Maritima show at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim sauntered down the runway in long, flowing, natural locks, it sent fashionistas wondering where those models got that hair. Turns out, the textured, piece-y waves were courtesy of Dean Banowetz and the InStyler Rotating Hair Iron. While you can’t have Banowetz at your disposal, you can have the first-ever rotating straightener. Think of it as a blow dryer, flat iron, curling iron and round brush in one—and think of all the bathroom space you’ll save. The product’s built-in brush styles while the heated barrel yields curly or straight locks. To get Banowetz’s beachy waves, follow these steps:

1.    Separate hair into sections starting with a bottom layer at the nape of the neck.
2.    Add texture to hair by spraying sea salt into hair.
3.    Back comb at the root for volume and fullness.
4.    Twist small sections of hair in varying amounts of spins to make tight and loose pieces.
5.     Wrap strands around the Instyler barrel, close clamp and keep closed for 15 seconds.
6.    Release, let cool and pull at ends to create wave effect.
7.     Repeat, then flip hair upside-down, spray lightly with sea spray and scrunch for texture. Voila.

SPA: T.G.I.S.S.M. (Thank God It’s STILL Spa Month). From now through August 31, head over to Tempo Miami RockResorts Spa for Hawaiian Bliss. For just $99 (plus tax and gratuity), enjoy one of two island-inspired treatments, like the 80-minute Hawaiian Aromatherapy Massage or the 80-minute Hawaiian Rock Facial. The massage uses Hawaiian-scented oils to transport you out of Miami and to the big island, while your therapist gives your stressed muscles a vacation. The facial, on the other hand, uses hot towels and cold stones to relax muscles and stimulate facial cells. Cool stones placed on eyes and a gentle face massage feel like an escape from the daily grind and also help relieve sinus congestion, puffiness and tension. Plus, Miami Spa Month guests get 10 percent off treatments not included in the Spa Month promo (excluding nail services, waxing or upgrades), so you can extend your island getaway. GET IT: $99 each. Tempo Miami, 1100 Biscayne Blvd., Miami; 786.369.1050.
