A woman in Tamarac was injured after authorities say she was struck by a car while trying to get her dog out of the road.

The incident happened Monday morning just before 7 a.m. along McNab Road and University Drive.

Broward Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Gina Carter says the unidentified victim was walking three Pomeranian's when one of the dogs got off the leash and ran into the road.

Carter says the woman stepped into the road to retrieve the dog and was hit by a vehicle.
