Tropical Storm Fred Forms in the Atlantic

Fred, the sixth named storm of the Atlantic season, had sustained winds at 40 mph

Forecasters say Tropical Storm Fred has formed in the Atlantic and is expected to strengthen over the next couple of days.

According to the National Hurricane Center in Miami, Fred, the sixth named storm of the Atlantic season, had sustained winds at 50 mph. It's about 245 miles south of the southernmost Cape Verde Islands and moving west-northwest at about 15 mph.
