Hansel y Raul to Perform at Hialeah Park Casino

Hansel y Raul will perform Friday night at the Hialeah Park Casino.

When Hansel, one of the lead singers of the recognized salsa due “Hansel Y Raul,” arrived from Cuba in the early 1960s, he spent many afternoons at the Hialeah Park Casino watching the races.

More than 50 years later, he will be returning to the casino to perform some of his greatest salsa hits such as “Maria Teresa & Danilo” and “Con la Lengua Afuera.”

“I just happened to have stepped foot in that place when I was a little boy,” Hansel said. “It’s very nice to go back.”

Their concert is part of “Salsa Under the Starts,” free concerts that will take place every Friday night at the casino.

The event begins at 9 p.m. with a fireworks show and emds at 1 a.m.

Instead of Hansel y Raul’s usual one hour and a half performance, the group will divide their show into two 45 minute performances for the latecomers.

“I’m very grateful for all the support here and for the support we get all over the world,” Hansel said.

“We have sung for 50 years, we have done so much,” Raul said. “I’m very proud of everything.”

Although Hansel y Raul have won numerous Grammy awards, gold and platinum albums and countless recognitions, they say it’s the people and their support that really makes them proud.

“It’s the support that we have worked all our lives for,” Hansel said.
