Miami's beloved hoopsters may have just missed making the Finals' best grade but don't for a moment think that the team has counted itself out. In fact, with their DJ throwing his 7th Annual Irie Weekend, it's cinch they'll more likely be out and about, alongside some of our town's most mightily dignified. Niteside sidles up to Irie for a sneak peak at all the fast action.
Wanna tell us a quick bit about this year's Irie Weekend? The 2011 IRIE Weekend presented by Sugartime Sports will commence Thursday night, June 23rd, with an exclusive kick-off party at The Crown Royal Black Lounge. On Friday, June 24th the celebrity golf tournament will take place at the Melreese Country Club followed by a welcome concert, powered by Verizon, with Flo Rida at LIV nightclub. Saturday afternoon IRIE Weekend and New Era will take over Arkadia Pool and then we will close out the weekend with Grey Goose and Heineken at Arkadia Lounge.
Sounds dynamite! How did you decide on the various sites? We wanted to make sure IRIE Weekend guests experience the best Miami has to offer.
Which organizations will be blessed with the proceeds? Proceeds raised throughout the weekend will benefit the newly established IRIE Foundation and Make-A-Wish of Southern Florida.
Speaking of Make-a-Wish, didn't you just spin this year's kick-off again? I have had the privilege of DJing the Make-A-Wish foundation event for the last three years now. This is one of the most prestigious events in Miami, attended by the who's who of the city. Each year everyone comes together to raise record amounts of money and I am thrilled to be a part of it.
The Weekend isn't all you've got goin' on this week is it? I wish ... lol. I will be performing at RED BULL's Red Bulletin Magazine Launch Event this Wednesday in the atrium at New World Center. Red Bulletin is a "global magazine that brings to life the creative and adventurous world of Red Bull through spectacular photography and feature stories. 100 pages of Fun."
So no rest for Miami's main DJ? Check back with me in my next life =)
Before we go, gotta ask: How you taking The Heat? I have to say that I think the guys did a great job. It was their first season playing together and they not only won the Eastern Conference Championship, which was remarkable, but they took us all the way to the Finals. I look forward to seeing what they will accomplish next season.
The 7th Annual Irie Weekend tales place Thursday through Saturday in various venues. For more information log on here.
