Twi-Hards Must Wait a Whole Year For “Breaking Dawn — Part Two”

"Twilight" fans are going to have to show some patience to get to the end of "Breaking Dawn."

Summit Entertainment announced the final chapter of the movie franchise will be released Nov. 16, 2012. "Breaking Dawn - Part Two" will signal the end of Stephenie Meyer's book series and an exceedingly profitable franchise for Summit. And it will also signal an entire year wait from the first part of "Breaking Dawn" which hits theaters Nov. 18, 2011.

This might prove to be excruciating for fans of the book who were hoping to see a resolution and a second chapter come during the summer. But for a movie with abstinence themes, Twi-hards are used to waiting.

Production for both movies begins in a few months.

The only remaining questions will be whether the films will be in 3D and what the ratings for the films will be. On the latter point, there has been much discussion of the graphic birth scene that could push the film into rated R territory.

For the sake of Thanksgiving suppers over the next two years, we're hoping that they keep the gross to a minimum and keep it away from "R.". Producer Wyck Godfrey told us the same thing during press for "Eclipse."

"Fundamentally, I don't think the audience of the franchise is an R-rated audience," said Godfrey.
