Gwyneth Paltrow, Reese Witherspoon, Cameron Diaz and Beyonce Are “One-Hit Wonders”

"Glee" creator Ryan Murphy has Gwyneth Paltrow, Reese Witherspoon, Cameron Diaz, Beyonce and Andy Samberg in his sights for a new musical comedy called.

Murphy, Paltrow, Diaz and Witherspoon recently came up with the idea for "One-Hit Wonders," reported Deadline. The actresses will play three washed-up pop stars who decide to form a super group in an attempt to revive their careers. Samberg and his Lonely Island crew will work on the music.

Beyone's musical bona fides are unassailable, music is Samberg's forte, and Paltrow (if you haven't seen "Duets," do so--it is mind-bendingly bad/weird/bizarre) and Witherspoon have both proven themselves to be capable singers. But what of Diaz?

Her big break came in Jim Carrey's "The Mask," in which she played lounge singer Tina Carlyle, and she and sang karaoke in "A Life Less Ordinary" and "My Best Friend's Wedding." It would be unfair to characterize her chops based on these clips, and at the end of the day, no matter how bad she is, they can massage the hell out of her voice with decent production.

But whatever Diaz may lack in pipes, she's the only person involved who's had a hit film lately. Witherspoon's "This Means War" tanked, nobody saw Paltrow's "Country Strong," and Beyonce and Samberg have yet to really breakthrough in film. Diaz, at least, had a success last year with "Bad Teacher."
