Johnny Archer

Johnny Archer anchors the weekend evening newscasts on Saturdays and Sundays at 6pm and 11pm.

Johnny joined the NBC6 News team in December, 2017 from sister station NBC 5 KXAS in Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas, where he served as general assignment reporter and, most recently, as weekend anchor. Prior to that, Johnny held various roles including Idaho Falls bureau correspondent at KPVI-TV in Pocatello, Idaho, and weekend morning anchor at WHAS 11 News in Louisville, Kentucky.

Some of his most notable news coverage includes the Ebola Crisis in Dallas in 2015 and investigative reports on deplorable housing conditions in Louisville, Kentucky. Additionally, Johnny has covered several extreme weather events from deadly tornadoes in Southern Indiana to snow blizzards and wildfires in Eastern Idaho.

A member of the National Association of Black Journalists, Johnny earned a Bachelor degree in Broadcasting, Telecommunications from Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Johnny is an avid cyclist, runner and swimmer and has competed in several triathlons including a half Ironman. He has coached high school lacrosse and volunteers reading to elementary school kids.
