Jessica Alba is learning that imitation is not always the more sincerest form of flattery.
The actress said Saturday she's been distressed by reports that a Chinese woman is having a plastic surgery makeover to look more like Alba in an effort to win back an ex-boyfriend.
"I think you should never have to change yourself like that," Alba said. "If somebody loves you, they'll love you no matter what."
The 21-year-old Chinese woman, who gave her name to Reuters as only Xiaoqing, said that her ex-boyfriend was a fan of Alba's film and had suggested before the breakup that he would like her to look more like the actress.
"When I broke up with my boyfriend, I was very sad," Xiaoqing told Reuters. "My friends... kept consoling me but it did not work, so they suggested I do plastic surgery to look like her (Jessica Alba)."
Xiaoqing told Reuters that she plans to speak with her mother before making her final decision.
