Amy Winehouse's Father On Singer's Health: ‘She Was Close To Death Twice'

In recent weeks, Amy Winehouse has been spotted on the beaches of St. Lucia looking healthier than ever, but according to the singer’s father, she came “close to death” on two separate occasions.

In the upcoming TV documentary “Saving Amy,” Mitch Winehouse said the media has been nonstop in chronicling his daughter’s often troubled life, but said, “they didn’t see her lying in bed for days in a dark room,” according to Hello Magazine, as reported by People.

“She was close to death twice. We have been working a lot to get her to where she is right now,” Mitch continued.

The British singer’s father claimed that Amy is now living drug-free.

Mitch also revealed that he was forced to tell his daughter that husband Blake Fielder-Civil was seeking a divorce.

“I had to call Amy before she heard about it from someone else. She asked me, ‘Daddy, why does he want to divorce me?’ I said, ‘You know I don’t like him, but I have to admit that your behavior with another man is not what marriage is all about,’” he reportedly said in the upcoming TV documentary.

As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, according to The Associated Press, Blake will be filing for divorce based on Amy’s alleged infidelity. She’s been photographed vacationing with rugby player Josh Bowman in St. Lucia; meanwhile, Blake is back in jail after breaching his bail conditions while in rehab in November.

Though Blake is seeking a divorce, Amy told Britain’s the Sun last week that she will not give it to him.

“I still love my Blake. I won’t let him divorce me,” Amy told the paper of her husband. “He’s still in jail but the moment he comes out I’ll be there waiting for him.”
