Justin Bieber, Bono to Headline Japan Relief Album

Bon Jovi and Rihanna also on board to help Japanese Red Cross

Justin Bieber and Bono are among the music stars lining up to record an album dedicated to the relief effort in Japan.

Universal Music hopes to have the digital-only record out by the end of the week, and Rihanna, Nicki Minaj and Bon Jovi are also expected to appear on it, according to The BBC. Proceeds will go to the Red Cross.

"Japan needs our help... We all need to step up," Bieber tweeted.

Lad Gaga, who has already been hard at work raising relief funds with her "We Pray for Japan" bracelets, also may appear on the recording.

The death toll in Japan is up to 9,079, with another 12,645 missing, according to officials.  The 9.0-magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of Japan on March 11, and triggered a devastating tsunami that has left at least 400,000 people homeless and hungry. The damage is expected to exceed $200 billion.

The American Red Cross is accepting donations from those who want to assist in first aid, assessment, recovery and rehabilitation. Those who want to help can go to www.redcross.org and donate to Japan Earthquake and Pacific Tsunami. People can also text REDCROSS to 90999 to make a $10 donation to help those affected by the earthquake in Japan and tsunami throughout the Pacific.
