Underwood Sorry for Mocking Boots with McConaughey

Carrie Underwood felt compelled to apologize after she turned an elegant affair into a sloppy sexual mishap when she alluded to Matthew McConaughey's "boots" just moments after being named "Entertainer of the Year" at the American Country Music Awards

Underwood made her reference after McConaughey told the audience a story about a road trip he took with his brother through Texas, Foxnews.com reported.

McConaughey joked that he and his brother would pick up women by telling them that they custom-made boots for country music legend George Strait.

"[The women] got pretty excited about that and said, 'Well, can we see? Can we see? Can we see?'" McConaughey told the CMA audience. "And we obliged... Point of the story is, we got lucky that night. Thank you, George."

The "Fool's Gold" star then presented the "Entertainer of the Year" award to Underwood, who was so overwhelmed that the only thing she could think of to say was "I want to see those boots, Matthew."

However cute and charming the joke may have been, don't forget that McConaughey is not single -- he's committed to Brazilian model Camila Alves.

That may be part of the reason Underwood apologized for her mistake. "I'm so embarrassed, I totally embarrassed myself. I just blanked," Underwood told Foxnews.com. "You want to say something eloquent in a moment like that and I embarrassed myself. I'm sorry Matthew, I'm sorry to my family. I'm totally embarrassed."

Better luck next time, Underwood.
