Hugh Laurie Tops France's Bestseller List

Hugh Laurie is a big hit with U.S. TV audiences — but apparently, he's also big in France — as an author.

The "House" star had the best-selling book in France in the month of March, the BBC reported.

Laurie released his first novel, the spy satire "The Gun Seller" in 1996 in the UK, but the French translation was just published in January of this year and has since climbed to the top of the book charts.

The book follows ex-soldier Thomas Lang, who is drawn unwillingly into a James Bond-like plot of international terror, arms deals and spooks.

"House" is reportedly a big hit in France as well. The much-lauded FOX show, currently in the midst of its fifth season, has earned Hugh a pair of Best Actor Golden Globe awards.
