Lady Gaga Sends Senate “Don't Ask, Don't Tell” Message

Calls for repeal of "unconstitutional" Clinton-era law

Lady Gaga's latest video doesn't have the pop superstar wearing a bizarre outfit, sporting an over-the-top hair style or, for that matter, singing.

The seven-and-a-half-minute clip posted on YouTube and seen below is titled  "A message from Lady Gaga to the Senate," and calls for the repeal of the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy on gays in the military that has been in effect since 1993.

"Don't Ask, Don't Tell" asks that serving gay and lesbian soldiers hide and keep private their sexual orientation under the promise and protection that the government will not ask them to tell or disclose their sexuality," Gaga says.

But the law, intitially seen as a compromise, has given rise to profiling and vengeful exposure of soldiers' orientation, she says. Gays are being "refused the right to serve their country," according to Gaga, who is seen wearing a suit and tie before a flag. She brands the policy "inconsistent and unconstitutional" and claims 14,000 gay soldiers have been booted from the military since the law was enacted, including 400 under the Obama Administration.
