Burton's 2006 Mercedes was on Beverly Boulevard in West Los Angeles at about 7:40 p.m. Monday when a 74-year-old woman in a 2006 Scion turned left in front of him, said detective Judy Acosta.
When the cars collided Burton's vehicle hit a parked car, leading to a chain reaction that damaged two other parked cars, police said.
Acosta says both drivers complained of pain, then were examined at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and released. Nobody was ticketed.
Burton, 52, first gained major fame in the miniseries "Roots," then was the longtime host of the children's show "Reading Rainbow," before going on to international geek-stardom on ''Star Trek: The Next Generation" as the "blind" Lt. Commander Geordi La Forge, who started out as a pilot, then was moved to engineering.
