Michelle Obama's Hairstylist Lands Reality Show

Move over Ken Paves and Kim Vo, there’s a new celebrity hairstylist coming to Hollywood, and he’s done the ‘do of First Lady Michelle Obama.

Johnny Wright, who styled Michelle Obama’s hair for the Democratic National Convention and her upcoming Vogue cover, has inked a deal with 44 Blue to star in his own reality show, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

“There aren’t many people of color doing makeover and beauty shows,” 44 Blue executive VP Stephanie Drachkovitch told the entertainment trade mag. “We figured there’s got to be somebody out there with a mainstream clientele, but brings a different point of view.”

According to Drachkovitch, Wright is unlike other Hollywood hairstylists.

“We fell in love with him before we knew,” she continued. “There’s a lot of hairstylists out there who do celebrities, but they can’t center a show.”

Drachkovitch admitted the connection to the First Lady has helped Wright’s reality show take off.

“She has certainly emerged as a style icon,” Drachkovitch said of Michelle Obama “She has everyday beauty mixed with elegance. It certainly raises (Wright’s) profile.”

Wright is far from a complete stranger to styling for the stars. He has worked with Vivica A. Fox, Rebecca Gayheart, and Candace Bushnell in the past.
