Nancy O'Dell Shares Her SELF Shape-Up Tips

Access Hollywood's own Nancy O'Dell has completed the SELF Magazine Challenge with close friend and actress Holly Robinson-Peete. The challenge was taken up by many to help achieve a variety of goals from weight loss and healthy eating to toning up and trying new activities. It helped Nancy stay motivated since she injured her knee on "Dancing With the Stars," and knew her biggest hurdle would be easing back into exercise.

There is still some time to get swimsuit ready and Nancy and Holly shared their tips from the challenge in the July 2009 issue of SELF magazine.

Nancy loves eating chips, but Willow Jarosh, a registered dietician, suggested that to upgrade her snack habit, she opt for lowfat plain yogurt and berries.

Nancy skips out on a daily soda and opts for seltzer water instead, which saves 950 calories a week.

To help stay motivated, Nancy and Holly created inspirational boards to remind them of their goals.

Nancy helps stay fit with her family. She admits playing football with her stepsons helps keep her healthy. Holly likes to take her dogs for hikes in the hills, which burns almost 500 calories an hour.

Love cheese like Holly? Opt for sharp cheddar, using 1 oz. in a salad. The strong flavor allows you to use less, but not scrimp on taste.
