McDreamy to the Rescue: Patrick Dempsey Saves Teen After Car Flips

"Grey's Anatomy" star springs into action to rescue teen after Malibu wreck

McDreamy to the rescue!

Like the doctor he plays on the hit television series “Grey’s Anatomy” would do, actor Patrick Dempsey came to the aid of a stranger whose car had flipped during an auto accident.

Weston Masset, 17, lost control of his Mustang near Dempsey’s home in Malibu, Calif. The car rolled three times trapping Masset, who was barely conscious.

According to a report at People, Dempsey used a crowbar and fire extinguisher to rescue the teenager. After pulling Masset clear of the car, the actor called paramedics and practiced his best bedside manner until the injured teen was airlifted to the hospital where he was treated for an eye injury and a concussion.

“I was scared for my life. I was upside down,” Masset said in an interview with ABC. He also asked Dempsey, who plays Dr. Derek (McDreamy) Shepherd on “Grey’s Anatomy,” if he was famous. Dempsey, 46, replied, “Yeah, I’m a doctor.”

Medical and celebrity joking aside, Masset said, "He was there for me. It would have been a lot worse without me."

The actor, a father of three, also called Masset’s mother to inform her of her son’s condition.

Dempsey’s reps have yet to comment on the incident, and Masset is expected to make a full recovery.
