McDreamy to Make Charity Bidder's Heart Race

Chance to hang out with Patrick Dempsey at NASCAR event could raise $30G

Fans of Grey's Anatomy star and racing nut Patrick Dempsey can bid on a chance to spend quality time with him at a NASCAR event in an auction to benefit burn victims.

The winner gets near-open access to everything going on at Grand AM/NASCAR Daytona July 3 to 4, and a meet and greet with the star (barring "unforeseen" circumstances), according to charitybuzz. Also included is a ride on the track, an invite to the racing pit, hotel stay and a pair of airline tickets.

Who benefits besides the highest bidder? Fired Up For Kids, an organization that raises funds for young burn victims.

Bids are already nearing $10,000 and charity buzz is placing the package's estimated value at $30,000.

This isn't the first time the actor is mixing philanthropy and racing. In January, Dempsey drew huge crowds to the Grand-Am Rolex 24 race at Daytona Beach, where he drove a pink car marked with the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer logo, according to USA Today.

Earlier this month, he raised money for children born with heart defects at the Le Mans 24-hour race in France where he placed ninth, according to GrandAm.

Dempsey formed his own professional sports car racing team in 2002 which was renamed Dempsey racing in 2009. For the past few years he has been racing frequently.

Bidding for the Fourth of July Daytona event closes just after 3 p.m. Wednesday.
