Simon Cowell On Susan Boyle: ‘It Could All Go Horribly Wrong'

Tens of millions of people have fallen in love with "Britain's Got Talent" star Susan Boyle after watching her performance of "I Dreamed A Dream" on YouTube, but judge Simon Cowell isn't convinced that the 47-year-old Scotswoman will win the UK reality competition show just yet.

"She has four weeks to prepare for the biggest night of her life, which is, she's got to sing better than she sang before," Cowell told reporters during Friday's NBC TCA panel for the summer launch of the new season of "America's Got Talent."

Simon said he was also tired of hearing stories about her Susan's life with her cat, Pebbles, and thinks it may sway others too.

"It could all go horribly wrong now because there's so many other distractions," he added.

But if she wins, Simon said she could be making an appearance on the American version of the franchise show.

"I think I would say to anybody who won the British show that we guarantee them now a spot on the American show," he said. "And I think that's a great incentive for the British winner now. So if it is Susan, yes."

Despite his caution, Simon was hopeful that Susan's sudden fame would help garner big ratings for the American version of the reality competition.

"I am seriously thinking now that we should hold maybe two more open auditions off the back of Susan Boyle since the awareness is that much higher," he said. "You don't have to be a singer who's 47 who's never been kissed, with a cat, just somebody who says, 'You know what? I think I could win a competition and I think I am talented and I don't think people are going to judge me because of the way I look.' So I think it's a positive thing for all of us."

But will America have an answer to Susan? Piers Morgan, a judge on both versions of the show, says yes.

"There's one guy who hunts chickens. And in fact, if all he did was come on stage and say, 'My talent is I catch 6,000 chickens a night,' he probably would have won the show. But his talent is he then sings like Garth Brooks," Piers said. "It is one of those moments when half the audience are in tears."

If nothing else, the show will have one fresh talent – new host Nick Cannon, who "America's Got Talent" judge Sharon Osbourne said brings something else to the table.

"It also helps that he's sexy and young," she said. "He's got a nice bum!"
