'I Love This Show': Andrew Lincoln Confirms ‘The Walking Dead' Exit

Lincoln has been with the show since it premiered in 2010

Walking Dead fans get your hanky's ready.

The rumors are true. "The Walking Dead" series lead Andrew Lincoln confirmed Friday he's exiting the show in the upcoming season during a panel appearance at San Diego Comic-Con.

"This will be my last season playing the part of Rick Grimes," Lincoln informed a dismayed audience. "I love this show, it means everything to me," he said. "This has been the most extraordinary, amazing, and beautiful experience of my career."

"I suppose what I wanted to say is, my relationship with Mr. Grimes is far from over, and a sort of large part of me will always be a machete-wielding, Stetson-wearing, zombie-slaying sheriff’s deputy from London, England," he said, referring to his home country.

Lincoln, who's been with the show since it premiered in 2010, said the current cast was doing "the greatest work I’ve ever seen."

"This has always been an ensemble, and it will continue to be an ensemble, and no one is bigger than the story, and the story this year is unbelievable," Lincoln said.
