Banksy Spray Paints Twin Towers in Tribeca

Banksy treated New Yorkers to new artwork once again Tuesday, this time with a spray painting of the twin towers of the World Trade Center.

The elusive street artist posted a photo of the painting on Instagram around noon, tagging it "Tribeca" for the piece's location. In the four hours after it was published, the image garnered over 20,000 likes and 500 comments on the photo sharing app.

The painting depicts the iconic twin towers amid the New York City skyline in the artist's signature black spray paint. An orange flower is pinned to the middle of the south building, suggesting a fiery explosion or a symbol of remembrance.

Banksy's twin towers painting appeared soon after the street artist made headlines with his art sale near Central Park this weekend and a piece in Woodside, Queens, on Monday.
