Argentine Actress Christian Bach Has Died at 59

The well-known actress and wife of actor Humberto Zurita, died on Tuesday

Renowned Argentine actress Christian Bach, who co-starred in the Telemundo series "La Patrona" and "La Impostora," died at age 59, according to a statement released by her family.

Bach was the wife of Mexican actor Humberto Zurita, and mother of actor Sebastián Zurita. The couple also had a second son, Emiliano Zurita.

The actress and producer died Tuesday, Feb. 26, from respiratory failure, according to the statement issued by her family. 

"It was always her wish to safeguard personal and family matters in absolute privacy in order to lead a normal life, parallel to our profession and the media exposure derived from our work," the statement read in part. 

"It is this public part of our lives that today forces us to share with all of you this great loss for our family." 

Bach was born in 1959 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She graduated with a law degree and later moved to Mexico to dedicate herself to acting.

In 2013, she starred alongside Aracely Arámbula in the series "La Patrona," succeeded the following year by the production "La Impostora," in which they co-starred as the principal villains. 

Bach retired from the stage at that point from supposed health problems. 

"Christian was an exemplary actress and mother; a super mother and a wife that filled the life of her family with love, courage, valor and the great desire to live life to the fullest, in a way that was congruent with her ideas and yearnings," the statement added. 

Bach rose to fame with a secondary role in the telenovela "Los Ricos También Lloran" (1979); later starring in "Bodas de Odio" (1983), "De Pura Sangre" (1985), "La Chacala" (1997) and "La Patrona" (2013) and produced alongside her husband "Azul Tequila" (1999), among other projects. 

The actress won the Best Actress award at the 1984 and 1989 TVyNovelas and the Best Actress TuMundo award from Telemundo in 2013. 

She also worked in film with over a dozen movies like "Brigada en Acción" (1977), "Gavilán o Paloma" (1985), "Soy Libre" (1991), "El Secreto" (2011) and "Deseo" (2013).
