Singer Janelle Monáe Condemns Gun Violence as Cousin Killed in Drive-By Shooting

Natasha Hays, a mother-of-three, was shot and killed in a drive-by shooting in Kansas City Wednesday

Singer/activist Janelle Monáe took to Twitter to grieve the murder of her cousin, Natasha Hays, a mother of three small children, who was shot and killed in a drive-by shooting in Kansas City Wednesday. 

"Hearing your uncle on the phone while he tries to make sense of his daughter being murdered is the most helpless feeling in the entire world," Monáe tweeted.

According to local news reports, the shooter sprayed gunfire into the home of Hays, 38, early Tuesday morning. while she and her children slept. The children, ages 18, 16, and 14, were unharmed.

"Whoever did this is a coward," Candice Berger, Hays' cousin, told Fox. "They just took her life ... I mean, it's just wrong, it's just wrong, in a cowardly way."

Monáe, a multiple Grammy nominee, appealed on Twitter for anyone who may have witnessed the crime to help the police find her killer.
