Simon Cowell: Lauren Silverman Is Not a Gold Digger

Dad to be Simon Cowell finally opens up about the woman who is having his child and the circumstances around their very public outing as a couple.

The "X Factor" judge appears on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" Tuesday and tells the talk show host that most people have his baby mama Lauren Silverman totally wrong.

"I can't blame the media because it's kind of what I call a juicy story," Cowell says during the chat. "But there was a lot of stuff said about [Lauren Silverman], that she trapped me and that she's a gold digger — absolute nonsense. I mean, she's a great girl."

While he may appreciate the power of a good headline, after some prodding from DeGeneres Cowell admits that Silverman learning of her preganancy while still married to Cowell's friend Andrew Silverman was definitely "awkward." The pair have since divorced.

"(I thought) oh my God, this is exciting, and it's going to be a bit of a nightmare for the next few weeks," he says of learning the news. "'Cause everyone knows, it was well documented. It was kind of uncomfortable, you know, the situation. But these things happen and everything is kind of calm now, and I'm happy."

"I'm actually happier than I've ever been," the former "American Idol" judge admits with a satisfied grin.

In a nod to his fondness for tight t-shirts, DeGeneres gifts Cowell with some mini-me tees - sized extra, extra small - for both the baby and Cowell's own closet.
