Playboy to Bring Back Nude Pictorials

The decision comes just under a year after the policy was put in place

Playboy will once again feature nude women in its magazine, CNBC reports.

The magazine decided last year to keep its models clothed in an effort to appeal to mainstream readers and advertisers. The first issue following the decision saw a 55.5 percent increase in advertising compared to the issue from the year before.

But after just one year, the company decided to reverse the no-nude policy. And the March/April issue of the cover features a headline appropriate for the announcement: "Naked is normal."

Chief Creative Officer Cooper Hefner said the way the magazine portrayed nudity was dated, but that removing it entirely was a mistake.

"Nudity was never the problem because nudity isn’t a problem," he said on Twitter Monday, adding that the company is "taking our identity back."
