MMA Fighter Ronda Rousey Accepts Invitation to Marine Ball, Making One Soldier's Dreams Come True

"He’s gotta be a gentleman. I’m not a first date kind of girl."

Ronda Rousey said she'd take a night off from kicking and punching to dance and twirl at a Marine Corps Birthday Ball.

Rousey, 28 — the reigning champion in the UFC women's bantamweight division and arguably the sport's biggest star — accepted an invitation from U.S. Marine Jarrod Haschert, 22, according to a news report on Tuesday.

In a video posted to on his Facebook page Thursday, Haschert, a New Jersey native, confesses to Rousey that she is his "celebrity crush" and he would love to take her to the ball on Dec. 11.

"I love everything that you do and I think you are a phenomenal person," said the rosy-faced, North Carolina-based marine in the video that had been viewed nearly 5 million times by Tuesday night.

"If you (consider it), you will truly be making my dream come true," he continued.

It was a few days until Rousey accepted, after a TMZ cameraman asked about the proposal point-blank in video published Tuesday. A beaming Rousey is seen saying yes to the date, with just one stipulation: "He’s gotta be a gentleman. I’m not a first date kind of girl."

Rousey admitted she was at a loss on how to reach him. She agreed to the date after a January fight against former boxer Holly Holm was moved to Nov. 14.

Rousey did make one other request of Haschert: That he get dates for three of her friends as well.
