“Hunger Games” Stars Join Woody Harrelson on “SNL”

Jennifer Lawrence, Liam Hemsworth and Josh Hutchinson joined Harrelson during his opening monologue

Woody Harrelson returned to "Saturday Night Live" this weekend, nearly twenty-five years after first hosting the show and got some help from his "Hunger Games" co-stars.

In his opening monologue he pointed out that the last time he graced the "SNL" stage it was 1989 -- a year that happens be the title of Taylor Swift's new album.

"With all due respect to Ms. Swift," he said, "I think I know a little bit more about 1989 than she does."

He was then handed a guitar and sang about what really went on that year, "even if the memories are a little fuzzy...because of the drugs": the fall of the Berlin wall, his time on the hit TV show "Cheers" and meeting Margaret Thatcher.

That is when actors Liam Hemsworth, and Josh Hutchinson joined him on stage.

"Are you guys here to help me sing the Taylor Swift song about 1989?" asked Harrelson.

"Actually, we weren't even alive in 1989," said Hutchinson.

"I thought you guys were like in your early 40s," Harrelson joked.

"No, we just know stuff that you told us about 1989, like the Berlin Wall was knocked down by the Kool-Aid man," said Hutchinson.

"Einstein invented Wifi," Hemsworth added for good measure.

Jennifer Lawrence then came on stage.

"I can't believe it, it's the real Taylor Swift!" Harrelson exclaimed.

"Woody, I'm not Taylor Swift, I'm Jennifer. We've done about 10 'Hunger Games' movies together," Lawrence responded.

In a bar scene about "Old New York," Harrelson sat with castmembers Kenan Thompson, Bobby Moynihan and Tarran Killam and reminisced about the good old days when pizza and knishes were on every corner instead of fro-yo and Korean food.

But all Harrelson could talk about was the difference in the drug scene.

"Yeah, remember the crack?" asked Harrelson.

When the group said no, he said, "Yeah, because it's not as good anymore."

The episodes' "Weekend Update" segment detailed recent trending topics, with co-anchor Michael Che distracted by Kim Kardashian's attempt to "break the Internet" with a nude cover photo for Paper magazine.

“Thank you, Kim. I can now find porn just by Googling the word ‘paper,'” he said, noting that the image was viewed online by more than 16 million people.

Harrelson made his way to the "Update" desk with Matthew McConaughey (Taran Killam) to talk about their HBO series "True Detective."

Harrelson was visibly amused by Killam's accurate impression of McConaughey, as they discussed the actors' decision not to return for the show's second season.

"We can't go on and on til the break of dawn," said Mconaughey, when Jost asked them how they felt about leaving the show.

"Couldn't have said it better myself," said Harrelson.

The cold open scene was set at the White House with President Barack Obama (Jay Pharoah) and future Senate Majority leader Mitch McConnell (Taran Killam) talking politics over a bottle of bourbon.

In what started as an awkwardly polite conversation over a drink, became a drunken casual hang-out ending with their ties loosened up, tears and even a prank call to Hilary Clinton.

Musical guest Kendrick Lamar performed his new hits, "I" and "Pay for It."

Next week, Cameron Diaz will host with musical guest Bruno Mars and Mark Ronson.
