“Toy Story 3” Lives Up to Buzz Lighting Up Box Office

The forces of Buzz Lightyear and Sheriff Woody in "Toy Story 3" sweep the box office taking in $41 million on it's opening day, according to studio estimates.  

The Disney Pixar sequel can expect a $100 million plus in it's debut weekend.  As animated films go, "Toy Story 3," will join the ranks with "Shrek 2" and "Shrek the Third" topping $100 million in an opening weekend, reports the AP.

Should the the film favorite about the toys we all know and love hit the $100 million mark, "Toy Story 3" will be the third movie in 2010, along with "Alice and Wonderland" and "Iron Man 2" to draw in that amount at the box office during a debut weekend, reported Access Hollywood.  "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse" is anticipated to join the club when released on June 30. 

Pixar's previous best opening, "The Incredibles," earned $70.5 million in it's opening weekend in 2004, which "Toy Story 3" should easily surpass. 

"Toy Story 3" is also expected to receive the No. 1 box office spot, which make gives Pixar a perfect record, 11 for 11 on number one box office debuts.  Thier first box office number one, a very appropriate "Toy Story" the original in 1995, reported Access Hollywood

As far as reviews go, "Toy Story 3's" inventiveness and Pixar 3D vision world have pleased audiences, as did the first two movies.  NBC's critic Scott Ross put it,  "'Toy Story 3' is a ripping good yarn that any adult would happily watch, even without their kid."
