The show will go on for Lauren Alaina.
Less than an hour before Lauren and Scotty McCreery took the stage for Tuesday's "American Idol" finale, Access Hollywood had learned that Lauren had lost her voice during rehearsals earlier in the day and was in jeopardy of being able to compete on Tuesday night.
However, Lauren and "Idol" host Ryan Seacrest addressed the issue at the top of the show.
"I'm here, I'm ready to sing. Don't worry about it," Lauren said with a smile, when Ryan asked if she would be able to perform.
Ryan then called out "Idol's" house doctor, who explained what happened to the teen singer.
"During the rehearsal, Lauren was really pushing her voice to get the maximum sound out an doing that she kind of blew out one of her vocal chords, so her vocal chords were really rough and sprained, kind of like a runner with a badly sprained ankle" the doctor explained.
"Can she make it the entire hour in your opinion?" Ryan asked the doctor.
"We gave her a lot of medicines… and she's going to do great," the doctor noted.
According to eyewitnesses who were present during Lauren's rehearsals earlier in the day, she lost her voice during her second song.
The first song she sang was "perfect," according to the eyewitnesses, however, she lost her voice during her second song and did not sing the third.
Lauren left the stage in tears, the eyewitnesses noted.
And just in case anyone was wondering if Scotty was facing any issues, he put those worries to rest.
"Let's do it!" the country crooner told Ryan.
Both Lauren and Scotty will perform three songs on Tuesday's show, with the winner announced on Wednesday's season finale.
