Portman, Firth Win Top Acting Oscars

Last year's Best Actor winner, Jeff "The Dude" Bridges, who's also up for the same award this year for "True Grit," crowned Natalie Portman Best Actress.

"Thank you, thank you so much. Thank you so much to the Academy. This is insane. And I truly wish the prize tonight was to get to work with each of my fellow nominees…I want to thank my parents first and foremost…," said Portman. "Everyone who's ever hired me, Luc Besson, who gave me my first job when I was 11 years old."

Portman was mocked all over cyberspace for incredibly awkward acceptance speech at the Golden Globes, during which she assured everyone that her choreographer/fiancee, Benjamin Millepied, "totally wanted to sleep with (her)," and then letting lose an amazingly dork explosion of laughter.

This was a big improvement.

Next, Sandra Bullock, who picked up last year's Best Actress prize for "The Blind Side," gave Colin Firth his Best Actor Oscar.

"I have a feeling my career's just peaked. My deepest thanks to the Academy. I'm afraid I have to warn you I'm experiencing stirrings, which are forming in the upper abdominals," said Firth.

We preferred Bardem's performance in "Biutiful," but Firth was truly great in "King's Speech," if not quite as good as he was in his previous film, "A Single Man," for which he was also nominated.

Firth closed his speech with an ominous warning.

"Now, if you'll excuse me, I have some impulses I have to tend to backstage."
