2/25: Art & Acura Collide

Film, fashion and foodies

FASHION FRIENDLY: Erik Madigan Heck has already shot the works of Valentino, Christian Lacroix and Jean Paul Gaultier. Did we mention that the renowned fashion and fine arts photographer is just 26? Tonight the artist will be showcasing his work at the W South Beach for the first stop on a seven-city tour. The exhibition will showcase Heck's photography amongst high concept art, sculptures and video installations as a means of communicating the artist's vision behind the Acura ZDX, which will be making a debut with his work. How do cars and fashion collide? We guess we will see! This is a private invite only event. Want to attend? Be the first to add us on Facebook and find out! 7 P.M.

SILVER SCREEN: There are a few films that, when you walk out of the theater, make you feel warm and fuzzy inside. Well, here is one that won't do that. The Wolfsonian on Miami Beach will be playing My Son The Fanatic, a film out of the UK that focuses on modern British identity and the complex relationship between an immigrant father and his son. The father enjoys religious freedom from his former life in Pakistan while his son struggles to assert his own non-British identity, drops out of university, and joins a cell of Islamic fundamentalists. It might sound a little like a Debbie downer, but it's free for members ands students and $10 for everybody else. Be sure to bring the tissues. 7 P.M.

FOODIES UNITE: There is some serious food royalty in our city this weekend. From the queen of butter Paula Deen to Ms. Simple Sandra Lee, everyone who loves all that is food and wine gather every year for the Super Bowl of the kitchen, the famous South Beach Food and Wine Festival. Today kicks off the ninth annual four-day festival that includes every kind of wine, spirits or chef you could ever ask for. Tonight's events include Amstel Light Burger Bash with Rachael Ray, Patrons Great Debate and many others. If you want to attend, make sure there is room on your credit card ASAP. Events aren't cheap and these shindigs are selling out faster than you can say BAM! 6:15 P.M.
