3/13: Feed Your Sole

Drinking, Designers and Donald. We love Saturdays!

FASHION FABULOUS: In economic times like this, many things have to be put in our budget: food, rent and fancy shoes. No matter what kind of style you call your own, gorgeous footwear will raise anyone's spirit. Tonight, luxury shoe and accessories designer Donald J Pliner is celebrating 20 years with a four-in-one celebration. The designer and his wife will host a meet and greet, Spring 2010 collection presentation, shopping event, and cocktail reception at Aventura Mall, with the day's proceeds to benefit Jewish Adoption & Foster Care Options, Inc. The fundraiser shopping event will experience not only to-die-for shoes by Pliner but also a memorable retrospective montage of the brand's iconic compilation of over 40 collections. To end the day fabulously, they will top off the evening with a celebration cocktail party with complimentary V Georgio vodka cocktails and hor d'oeuvres. There is no doubt that this event will feed your sole. 2-6 PM for shopping event & 7-9 PM cocktail hour. RSVP djp20@taraink.com.

UP IN THE AIR: There are very few events that are truly exclusive and cool. Well, we found one. You know their music from Sofia Coppola films like "The Virgin Suicides" and "Lost in Translation" and, well, from providing the downtempo soundtrack to modern life in general -- and tonight French electronica duo AIR will be in concert at the Filmore Miami Beach at the Jackie Gleason Theater. It's guaranteed to be one of those not to miss events. They're on their first tour in three years in support of new album "Love 2," and tonight's event will be their first Florida concert ever! They're accompanied on the tour by special guest AM, a multi-instrumentalist from LA with a flare for distilling global music influences into his own unique and infectious pop confections. How do we put this lightly? This show will put you up in the AIR. 8 PM.

NYC IMPORT: We have a pretty impressive fashion community down here in South Florida, but the sad fact is that we are a few years behind NYC. We don't want to admit it, but it's true. The tents at Bryant Park are one-of-a-kind and there is no doubt about that. If you want to check out a little piece of NY Fashion Week, than look out for Custo Barcelona who will be making his first appearance in years tonight at FASHIONMiami. They are presenting the Fall/Winter 2010 collection tonight that leaves no one out with their men and woman's fashions being presented. Want to step up your fashionista game? Its easy: RSVP@asi-mkt.com. 9 PM. NE 39 Street and 1st Court.

ARTSY FARTSY: Maybe you were planning to spend your Saturday night in front of your TV and catching up on your DVR? Well, even though that does sound great, save that for a week night and go see your city! 777 Studio Gallery in Coral Gables presents a new  exhibition of two local talents, Antonia Wright and Ruben Millares. The show explores the human experience in the built and natural worlds; our relationship to our surroundings to each other. Wright will present a series of photographs called On The Other Hand, video, and installation while Millares will present a multisensory installation of mobile sculptures and ink drawings. The exhibition, which premieres tonight, is sure to make you feel artsy fartsy like never before. 7 PM.
